BCS is a volunteer-managed, non-profit organization serving the beach cities of Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, El Segundo, Torrance, and Palos Verdes areas. However, players can come from anywhere – we’ve had players come from as far as Encino, Carson and Orange County. Kids aged 5 – 12 (as of 7/1/17) are invited to grab hold of some fun!
Teams generally practice once or twice a week on local fields (day is at discretion of Head Coach and practice field availability), and generally play one game a week (Saturday or Sunday or Friday or Saturday Night) on the world-class Field Turf surfaces at Mira Costa High School or Redondo Union High School However, due to our massive growth (from 200+ to 700+ kids per season), we often play at other local fields like American Martyrs School (Manhattan Beach), Manhattan Beach Middle School (Manhattan Beach), Pacific Elementary School (Manhattan Beach), Aviation Field (Redondo Beach) and Marine Park (Manhattan Beach).
There is a playoff and championship structure in place, with medals for all players and trophies for division winners.
The Fall Season runs from Late August to early December, with games starting in September.
The Spring season runs from mid-February to May, with games starting in March.
Each player is required to have a specific number of minimum plays per game, so everyone gets a chance to learn. We take this seriously – we have volunteers specifically tasked to make sure each player gets the minimum number.
Parents are highly encouraged to get involved. Besides our volunteer coaches, we need people to help on game day – holding first down markers, doing MPRs or running the scoreboard. Just raise your hand – we’ll find something for you to do. Your child will appreciate it, and so will the league.
NOTE: We are always looking for coaches, especially at the youngest and oldest divisions. All coaches must submit to a background check and sign a binding Code of Conduct. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you’re interested in coaching.
